In anticipation of the 2010 Olympics the city of Vancouver made improvements to the road, which is now a much better quality drive than it ever has been before. The highway moves though several different climate zones, from the coast and the mountains to the rainforest at Horseshoe Bay. The road also crosses through Squamish, B.C., Garibaldi Provincial Park and the resort town of Whistler. Also located on the Sea to Sky is Britannia Beach, a national historic site and the location of the BC Mining Museum.
