Annapolis Valley Motorhome Holiday
If you decide to check out the Bay of Fundy why not add the Annapolis Valley to your drive? Nova Scotia's farming centre is located between the bay and South Mountain, full of gorgeous coastal views and agricultural fields. In this area there is fishing and beautiful vegetation as well as historic lighthouses and Acadian churches. Travelling from the bay to the valley is easy in an RV rental and you will have your choice of scenic points of interest to choose from.
This area of pictersque villages and small fishing towns was established almost 400 years ago and remains rich in history. There are several historic sites to choose from including Charles Fort and Fort Anne in Annapolis Royal, and Grand-Pre National Site and Deportation Cross in Grand-Pre, where there are also many trails around the town's Acadian church. If you take Highway 101 to the Annapolis Valley you will have many choices as to where to stop. Drive Highway 101 to the 360 and then exit right on Highway 221 at Welsford and you will find the Black Rock Light a close drive from Buckleys Corner. The area where this light is situated offers great views and if you're lucky you might even spot a whale or seals in the summer months. Another option is Baxters Harbour. You would have to drive on the 101 and take exit 12 to the 341 north following signs that lead you to Baxters. The paved road ends a bit away from the harbour and you may want to be careful about parking your rental RV here at certain times of the year. Still, the peaceful, pristing harbour is worth it as is the waterfall, which roars into the ocean at times of high tide.
Want to experience a charming village in the area? Try Hampton. Its gorgeous beach is perfect for picnicing or sun worshipping and you won't want to miss the sunsets here. Other options are the Margaretsville Light, which offers a great panoramic view of Minas Basin (there is also a parking lot here), the Port George Light and the French Cross in Weltons Corner. Follow the Evangeline Trail to discover acres of orchards or take the coastal drive between Digby and Yarmouth to see the towering French churches in the area. There are also several great hiking trails that will allow you to discover the beauty of the region on foot.
History and natural beauty find a perfect balance in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley. Discovering this area is easy by driving or walking and there is much to hold your attention. From majestic churches to gorgeous views of the water, beaches and unforgettable sunsets, the Annapolis Valley will not disappoint.
