Lunenburg Motorhome Holiday

A traditional port town in Nova Scotia, Lunenburg is located on the province's South Shore. If you are interested in discovering the unique culture of Nova Scotia then picturesque Lunenberg is for you. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1995 the town can be found on a peninsula in Mahone Bay, only about 90 kilometres from the capital city of Halifax, where you can pick up an RV rental to help you with your exploration of this area.

Originally an Acadian village called Mirligueche, the original settlement in modern day Lunenburg was eventually destroyed by Governor Edward Cornwallis in 1749. Three years later another settlement took root here, this one started by Foreign Protestants--mainly Germans, French, and Swiss settlers and Lunenburg was born. Filled with a rich history of raids and insurrections, as well as being a main sea port and ship building hub (it is said that the village has been filled with "wooden ships and iron men"), today Lunenburg's main industry is tourism. It is the perfect place to enjoy beautiful architecture and a gorgeous panoramic view of the sea along with small shops, charming inns and great restaurants.
