Italy is full of fabulous road trips for campervan hire vehicles, itineraries can be mixed and matched to create trips from a week up to a month. These are some of the most popular and easily combined sectors.
Venice to Montecatini Terme
Collect your motorhome rental vehicle in Venice and make for Venice Lido, you should spend at least a day in this beautiful city and there are plenty of transport options from the campsites to the centre.
Start your journey in all earnest towards the red city of Bologna and after a spot of shopping move on to the traditional countryside of Tuscany staying around Montecatini Terme.
Milan to Montecatini Terme
If you prefer to visit the Italian Lakes start you trip in Milan and stay in the Lake Maggiore area for a couple of nights. Known as the lake of flowers this area is famous for it beautiful lakeside resorts and idyllic islands. Spend a few days here and then move south towards Tuscany.

Leave Tuscany behind and head south for Lazio. Stop off at the fortress town of Orvieto and after exploring follow the route to spa resort of Fiuggi. Nestled in the hills of Monti Ernici your site around Fiuggi is the ideal place to take a day trip, or two to the eternal city of Rome.
Rome to Amalfi
Spend a few days in Rome enjoying what the eternal city has to offer and then either follow the coastal drive or take the autostrada between Rome and Naples. There are many many beautiful places to stay in and around Sorrento. The cosmopolitan resort has an array of designer shopping possibilities and a beauty of a different kind, the magnificent views from the headland out over the Bay of Naples. Wander the cobbled streets and visit the harbour from where you can take a trip to the island of Capri or travel further a field to Pompeii or Mount Vesuvius.
The highlight of the southern route is without doubt the Amalfi coast drive from Sorrento through to Amalfi, the distance of just 40 miles is not great, but the views certainly are. With hairpin bends and narrow passing places not even the Italians drive quickly along this stretch of the road and that’s because everyone is looking at the draw dropping views.
