As Swakopmund is a popular holiday spot there are lots of choices, both inside the town and further away. Along the coastal road there are lots of campsites which were set up for the fishermen, so have basic facilities, the ones closer to town are a little more ‘comfortable’. There are also quite a few sites to the west, in the Hamilton Hills to choose from, these range from the ones suitable for normal vehicles to those only accessible to 4x4 vehicles, for a more remote experience.

Take a trip to the Cape Cross Seal Colony north of Swakopmund. Here, you can get an idea of what the Skeleton Coast is like as well as visiting the ….seals. This is a popular place to visit and you can either drive yourself, or if you want a rest from driving, take a guided tour.
Visit the oasis of Goanikontes on the Khan River in search of living fossils. This is where you can find trees that only grow to two meters tall, the oldest one of which is 2,000 years old!
