Amsterdam is one of those cities that you could visit time and time again and still see something completely different each time.  There are great buildings along the canal sides, café’s and bars crammed into the squares, museums, bikes, trams; the place is heaving with locals and tourists and yet it feels safe and fun.  There is simply nowhere else like this!

Services for Motorhome Rental vehicles.
There are a couple of facilities especially for motorhome rentals and campervan hire vehicles on the outskirts of the city.  The Milky Way Farm is just a ten minute walk to the tram which takes you directly into the city, 15 minutes away.  The other is Gaasper Camping, 20 minutes to the centre by metro.  In addition to these two sites there are also a number of campsites on the outskirts of the city.

Top things to see and do.

Visit Anne Frank’s House.  This is without doubt one of the most popular attractions in Amsterdam, so if you want to see inside book your tickets online before hand and escape the queues.  Once inside experience the cramped conditions that the family we forced to endure during wartime; rooms darkened by blinds and the tiniest toilet, gives you a clear understanding of how terrible life must have been.

Visit the Van Gough Museum.  The museum holds the largest collection of the artist's work, if you are a lover of art this is a wonderful place to visit.  The museum also displays the work of other artists and is a great place to spend the day.  If you want to avoid the queues book you tickets online.

One for the girls.  The Tassenmuseum Hendrikje, or museum of Handbags and Purses.   Incredible, a whole museum dedicated to the most important fashion items.  Learn about the history of handbags and see everything from a man's handbag made from goatskin dating back to the 1400’s to Hilary Clinton’s bag of "Socks" the cat.

One for the boys.  Anyone for a beer?  Thought so…..The Heineken Experience has to be included here.  The History of Heineken and the family, right through to the process of making it, oh, and some tasting afterwards.  The whole tour takes about an hour and a half, so you’ll look forward to your drink afterwards!

Just for fun…Not what you think, but try Randy Roy's Red-light Tours.  The walking tour lasts around an hour and a half and your guide takes you through the Red Light District.  If you want to know the history behind the place, about the architecture and lots of other things you were too scared to ask, this tour will cover it all; you wont look like a pervert or like you looking for some business either!

If you are taking a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday in the Netherlands you MUST spend a few days here. Even if you hate cities you will definitely find something here you’ll love.
