The mouth of the Waikato River river offers a unique coastal experience only an hour away from Auckland City. Experience massive sand dunes, great fishing, and an interesting hinterland where part of the Lord of the Rings was filmed.

Driving Directions from Auckland Starting from Victoria St West
1 Head northwest on Victoria St West toward Federal St
2 Turn left at the 1st cross street onto Hobson St
3 Take the ramp to Route 1
4 Keep left at the fork, follow signs for 1/Manukau/Hamilton and merge onto Route 1
5 Take exit 476 for Helenslee Rd toward Razorback Road
6 Turn right at Helenslee Rd
7 Turn right at Munro Rd
8 Turn right at Pokeno Rd
9 Continue onto Whangarata Rd
10 Turn left at River Rd
11 Turn right at Tuakau Bridge-Port Waikato Rd
