Wairau Valley Campervan Hire Holiday
The township and the region known as the Wairau Valley is an area of wide river flat plains and rolling hills between Renwick and St Arnaud. This scenic route follows the course of the Wairau River, and the peaks of the Mount Richmond Conservation Park, where across the braided river lie numerous backcountry hikes including the popular Lake Chalice Track, a two-hour return hike with the option of circling the lake – just add an extra two hours extra walk time; the five hour hike one-way to the summit of Mt Patriarch; and the two to three day Chalice Goulter track.
Closer to St Arnaud is the turn-off to Tophouse, an old drovers rest point, and the site of a double murder suicide in 1894.
