Lawrence Campervan Hire Holiday
Lawrence is an old goldmining township that warmly welcomes visitors and even invites you to become honorary citizen during your stay. To do so, simply visit the Lawrence Information Centre to be recorded in the register!
The township has a long history of welcoming guests, starting way back in 1861 when gold found in nearby Gabriel’s Gully and the town’s population swelled to more than 11,000. Today you can try your own hand at panning for alluvial gold, visit Gabriel’s Gully, or follow the Lawrence Heritage Trail.
Visit the Gold Fields Museum to find out more about the town’s extraordinary goldmining history, and see the restored villa of local school teacher/musician John Joseph Woods, who composed the music for Thomas Bracken’s poem that became New Zealand’s national anthem.
