Charleston Campervan Hire Holiday
Charleston, a blink and you would miss it township, was once the site of the one of the greatest gold rushes in the history of the West Coast. More than 14,000 people lived here during its peak from 1866 through to 1870.
A steady stream of boats and ships bought supplies to the township via the treacherous entrance of Constant Bay, and this was such a dangerous manoeuvre that large rings were attached to the rocks at either side of the bay. These were used to steady arriving boats and prevent them from being wrecked on the rocks; incredibly if you head down to the beach you can still spot them embedded in the rocks today.
