Reefton Campervan Hire Holiday
Reefton was once the site of an 1800s gold mining boom, and the first town in the Southern Hemisphere to have electric street lighting. Stroll along the main street of Broadway to see the town’s wealth of historical buildings: the 1870s Forsyth and Masters Store, the 1886 Reefton School of Mines, and the old 1873 courthouse.
The countryside surrounding Reefton is full of old miners’ tracks leading through ancient beech forest to abandoned gold mines and historic sites in Victoria Forest Park. Other popular walks include the hike to Lake Stream, and the Mt Haast summit climb.
Four wheel driving, tramping, fishing, hunting and mountain biking are also popular activities and you can hire a pan, and try your luck at panning for gold.
