Stoll around the narrow streets or wander along the wide open beaches, for visitors with campervan hire or motorhome rental the Algarve has it all.
Services for Motorhome Rental vehicles
There are over 20 fully serviced Aires in the Algarve and one hundred times more campsites and rest stops, so you will never find it difficult to find somewhere to stay for a while. This is the only area in Portugal that ‘free’ camping is not advised as the local police clamp down on motorhomes parked illegally overnight, so don’t be tempted otherwise you may wake to find something attached to your windscreen!
Top things to see and do
Visit the most south westerly tip of Europe, Cape St. Vincent, near Sagres. The area has some beautiful, long and wild beaches and if you scramble over the cliffs to the headland you will be rewarded with some wonderful sunsets with clear views out towards Africa.
Great for beaches and for wildlife, spend some time on the Costa Vicentina and the Sudoests Alentejano National Park. The area is home to rare Fish Eagles and White Storks and is one of the last places in Europe to spot marine otters; it also has the largest number of plant species in Portugal. If beaches are your thing then all along the coast there a deserted stretches of long beach as well as coves and inlets.
One for the girls. If get to stop at Lagos there is a famous skin care centre that has a ‘Bio ultimate platinum non surgical facelift machine’ Claiming to give visible results after just one treatment and all for the price of a normal facial. Incredible! You have to try it.
One for the boys. We’ve only mentioned golf once, so for the boys it has to be a round at the Vilamoura Old Course. Golfers in the know flock here for the freshly cut well kept greens, the rolling fairways with plenty of doglegs and gradients and some great pine forests. Apparently there are some great holes that require a great deal of planning before taking your shot, so if you enjoy golf give it a try.
Just for fun…Be James Bond for the night. Visit Casino Vilamoura, put on a jacket and tie, and remember to take your passport. The casino is open until 3am and also offers professional shows and dining. If you like a flutter then there are over 500 slot machines to try as well as 20 tables offering Blackjack, Roulette, Dice and Poker, even if you just watch the atmosphere is great.
The Algarve has so much to offer visitors touring a with a campervan hire or motorhome rental, the climate is good all year, the beaches sandy and there is everything from the upmarket resorts to the small fishing villages, wherever you visit you won’t be disappointed.
