10 Fantastic Places to Visit on Your Campervan Holiday

This ‘Top 10 of South Africa’ has something for everyone, beautiful countryside with fantastic views, beaches, mountains, gardens, wine and fantastic wildlife.  As ten means ten, we’ve left out diamonds; sorry ladies, and rugby; sorry gents, but perhaps you can add these to your own list.  Motorhome rental and campervan hire here is an unbeatable way to see the delights of this magnificent country, and also gives you access to places off the beaten track where you can experience the great outdoors.

Table Mountain – one of the key tourist attractions for all visitors to South Africa.  Overlooking the city of Cape Town, this flat-topped mountain has a great view of the ocean and the city way below.  There are a couple of ways to get to the top, you can take a cable car, or if you’re feeling fit you can hike to the top.

The Garden Route - is a lush and very scenic area on the south east coast.  There are ten different nature reserves which are land, and sea based, home to seals, dolphins, and the endangered Southern Right Whale, 300 species of multi-coloured birds.  As well as the animals, there are also very very pretty towns and villages too  

Stellenbosh  - The Winelands.  If you love wine you must come here its incredible!  Visit all the different vineyards for cellar tours, and tasting's of course, but best thing to do is leave your motorhome rental or campervan hire on the site and go by bike or on a tour, you don’t want to be claiming on your insurance.  If you prefer just one glass with you meal, the wineries also do some fantastic food, you could spend weeks here

Blythe River Canyon – Visit this beautiful national park, home to ‘God’s Window’, for some incredible panoramic views, great scenic drives and wonderful walking country.

Durban – South Africa’s friendliest city and home to the ‘Golden Mile’, a string of beaches popular with surfers because it’s a shark free zone.  If you don’t want to get wet visit the promenade for shops, restaurants the aquarium.

The Drakensburg Mountains  - If you love outdoor activities come here, you can hike, go horse riding, or take a safari, there are also quad bikes, white water rafting opportunities, and rock climbing.  The scenery is great too.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens – One of the world’s leading botanical gardens.  On the outskirts of Cape Town, these gardens have themed areas such as the medicinal garden, the fragrance garden and some wonderful Protea’s, the national flower of South Africa.

Kruger National Park – Another ‘must see’, and home to the Big Five.  You can do self drive safari’s here; it’s perfectly safe, or if you prefer take a safari run by one of the local companies to get that little bit further into the bush.  
    
There is so much to see and do in South Africa.  Visitors with a motorhome rental or campervan hire will have a holiday to remember, and great photos to go with it.
