Zurich is Switzerland’s largest city, and contrary to popular belief, it’s not the capital of Switzerland; that honour falls to Berne. One honour that does fall to Zurich, however, is that of the city with one of the highest living standards in the world! This is probably due to the fact that everything is so clean and efficient.  Excellent news if you are visiting here on a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday.

Services for Motorhome Rental vehicles
Although there are no sites in the centre of Zurich, there are 6 on the outskirts; some closer than others, but all suitable for motorhome rental or campervan hire.  Amongst the closest are Camping Fischers Fritz, which is in Wollishofen; open between May and October, and Campsite Rausenback in Maur, open from April until November.

Top things to see and do

Visit the mighty Rhine Falls. You can take a boat trip from the jetty to the rock which divides the falls, or take a walk along the riverbank, where you enjoy a picnic lunch.  If you're feeling fit and walk from the river up to the top, you can hear the water well before you arrive.  For some great photos go to one of the three viewing platforms.

The Beyer Museum of Time is a small and unique museum in the cellar of an exclusive watch shop on the Bahnhofstrasse.  They have a very impressive collection of time pieces from the very beginning of time, literally!   The staff are all very keen to let you in on all kinds of clock facts, and give ‘hands on’ demonstrations.
The Botanischer Garten or Botanical Gardens are full of an incredible range of plants; as you would expect.  There are three hothouses which house three different climates, one tropical, one subtropical, and one savannah which are home to some huge cacti.  The other great thing is entry is free.

Visit the Old Town or Altstadt.   The Old Town is situated on the Limmat River, and is a maze of winding alleys and medieval houses.  The only way to get about here is on foot, you wouldn’t even ride a bike, there are just too many cobbles.

IM VIADUKT. The Viaduct is an old market hall where the local producers display and sell all kinds of gourmet food, and other items.  So if your looking to stock up your motorhome rental or campervan hire for a trip into the mountains, this would be a great place to visit.

Bahnhofstrasse.  This is the main shopping street in Zurich.  There are some very very elegant shops and boutiques here, but as you would expect, rather pricey.

Zurich is a very pleasant city to visit for visitors with a motorhome rental or campervan hire.  The sites on the outskirts of the city are ideally positioned for transport links into the city, and with its reputation for high living, there won’t be any nasty surprises on your stay here.
