The land of the Queen, castles, black and white houses, and Roman cities, the UK is an interesting place to visit for a motorhome or campervan holiday.  The roads are good (most of the time), the signposting straightforward, and in the majority of towns and villages there will always be a suitable place to spend the night.

The weather.  Many people think that it always rains in the UK, well; it does rain but not all the time.  Whatever time of year you choose for holiday be prepared for some rain, even in the summer but the best time to visit has to be from May until October.  This is when the temperature rises and it’s a lot less soggy underfoot, during the summer months you’ll even need shorts and t-shirts so come prepared for every eventuality.

The variety.  From the south coast all the way up to Scotland, the UK has some great places to explore.  For nature lovers there are the New Forest, Forest of Dean and Robin Hood’s Sherwood Forest, then there are the hills and mountains of Wales and Scotland, they might not be on the scale of Everest but the Brecon Beacons, Snowdon and Ben Nevis are quite a challenge, even when the sun is shining.  For history buffs there are the beautiful cities of Bath, York and of course the capital London with all the famous sights.  Finally for people who are interested in chocolate box villages there are the Cotswolds with their honey coloured stone cottages or the black and white villages of Herefordshire and Shropshire.  The list goes on and on and we haven’t mentioned all the castles and modern cities yet!

Places to stay.  In the areas popular with tourists there are a whole host of places to stay and that doesn’t just mean hotels, there are lots of sites suitable for motorhome rental of campervan hire vehicles too.  Sites are usually found on the outskirts of the towns and cities and in many villages, even the more rural ones will have somewhere to stay the night and stock up on previsions.  Some sites will be large and offer all the facilities, others will just be a field, but during the summer months be prepared for some sites to be fully booked, so if there is somewhere you particularly want to stay make sure you book in advance.

For more information on the suitable sites visit the link below this gives detailed locations for motorhome and campervan stopovers in the UK.  There’s no need to be a member just use the search facility for a detailed map of the area.

10 Fantastic Places to Visit on Your Campervan Holiday

With only 10 of the best places, this is a tough one.  Just like the rest of Europe the UK has lots of history so it’s perfect for those who like ‘old things’.  The British were always fighting someone, either themselves or their foreign neighbours, which means there are lots of castles and defensive structures.  When they weren’t fighting they were showing off their wealth, so again that means big cathedrals, houses, and civic buildings.  It’s not just about history, there are modern things to do for visitors on a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday, but for the time being we’ll stick to the old stuff!
