A motorhome rental or UK campervan hire holiday in the UK is a great way of seeing the diversity of the country, and whether you’ve got a week or a month, here are a few suggestions which could easily be strung together to make a much longer trip.

London to Brighton.
An easy one to get you started, the London to Brighton run should only take a couple of hours past the countryside of the Weald and the South Downs.  Some of the route is via the M23 so not exactly stunning views, but you’ll be in Brighton in no time, and you could always pretend you were either a Mod or Rocker from the 60’s who passed this way at the weekends for a good old fashioned fight!

Take the royal route along the Norfolk coast.

A nice quiet drive along the roads of Norfolk, no hills to worry about here, so you can see for miles.  Travel from King's Lynn to Cromer which has a great choice of nature reserves along the route where you can stop to stretch your legs, or if you prefer there’s the Sandringham Estate, retreat of HM Queen Elizabeth.  Visitors can even visit the estate when the Queen is not in residence.  If you’re always getting lost don’t worry Compton Hall will be right up your street as it has a huge maze cut into a cornfield.

‘Homes of the Stars’ route in the Cotswolds.
Perhaps not a glitzy as the Hollywood tour, but the Cotswolds has certainly attracted some very famous residents.  After spending time in the pretty town of Cirencester head for Fairford and the village of Southrop, this is where Kate Moss has her home.  Moving on through Hatherop and St.Aldwyn’s towards the ‘other Barnsley’ will bring visitors in a motorhome rental or campervan hire vehicle to the 72 acre estate belonging to Liz Hurley.  Stop for a bite of lunch, she won’t mind, and then head north through the beautiful Bourton on the Water, you have to stop here and feed the ducks!  From Bourton head for Westcote and the 14th Century manor house of Kate Winslett and Sam Mendes.  To be fair this route is not really about the celebrities that live here it’s about the beautiful villages that you pass through, and it’s not over yet from Westcote head for Stow on the Wold though Moreton in the Marsh and you’ll see even more pretty villages en route.

Beware of a man wearing a skirt, the Scottish Highlands
This is for the tough boys who love the open road and miles of it, but with a motorhome rental or campervan hire it’s not a problem as you can stop when you want where you want.  Set out from Edinburgh and cross the Forth Bridge towards Perth.  Today your first stop is Pithlochry, why, because there’s a great Whisky distillery here and you’ll need to have a tasting session after which you’re going nowhere.  Day two takes you through the incredible Grampian Mountains to Inverness for another stopover.  Day 3, the route to Elgin and funnily enough the Gelenfiddich distillery at Dufftown, another overnight then!  Finally day 4 to Glenlivit….I think you get the picture.

The UK may be an island by there’s lots to see, and visitors on a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday will always find a little gem in the most unexpected of places.
