Motorhoming in London
The UK’s capital, London is brimming with history, museums, galleries, and of course some very famous shops, then there are the great theatres, great restaurants…the list is endless. Visitors on a motorhome rental or UK campervan hire holiday to the city will be glad that they have somewhere comfortable to relax after a long day because they’ll need it!
Services for Motorhome Rental vehicles.
The centre of London is not the place to bring a motorhome rental or campervan hire vehicle, the parking is difficult and there’s a congestion charge to pay. The best ideal is to choose one on the sites on the outskirts of the city and travel in by public transport; it’ll make life a lot easier. If you’re looking for a recommended site visit the link below which will have some suggestions.
Top things to see and do
Visit the British Museum. The museum houses the world's greatest collection of antiquities from ancient Rome, ancient Greece, Asia, and prehistoric Britain, look out for ‘Ginger’ the world’s oldest man from 3400 BC, who’s ears resemble cured bacon!
Take a flight on the London Eye for panoramic views over the city from a glass bubble on the world’s highest observation wheel.
Explore Westminster Abbey. The admission charge may be rather steep, but once inside visitors will appreciate why. The tombs of Kings and Queens, the magnificent ceilings and the Lady Chapel are incredible.
Visit Madame Tussauds and come face-to-face with everyone form William Shakespeare to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and everyone in between from rock stars to sports personalities.
Visit an Art Galley. The National Gallery in Trafalgar Square with works from Leonardo da Vinci, Gainsborough, Renoir, and Van Gogh, or for something more modern, Tate Modern, With works from Dalí, Warhol and Hurst.
One for the girls. Shop, shop, shop in Oxford Street, Covent Garden, Carneby Street, and Harrods. After all that shopping make sure you book a night out on the town at one of the city’s exclusive nightclubs or a theatre.
One for the boys. Visit the Tower of London’s Dungeons and the Royal Armoury exhibition. The tower holds five hundred years worth of royal armor, giving an insight into the personalities, power and physical size of England’s kings, you can even check out if you were you as fat as King Henry VIII.
Just for fun…Take an open top bus tour. Ok, it’s a bit touristy, but you’ll get to see all the sights from the top deck. You also get a commentary so you can work out what you want to visit in more detail, and it means you can sit down after all that walking!
London is a wonderful city, there are so many choices for visitors on a motorhome rental or campervan hire holiday you could spend weeks here without ever getting behind the wheel. The sites on the outskirts of the city are well equipped, and the transport links into the city make it easy to get around.
